This scad is the fish that is usually used in the local malay dish "Nasi Lemak". They can be found in small or large groups near structures or reef where there is current. A typical place where you can catch them is at Bedok/Labrador Jetty. They stay near pillars and feed from midwater to bottom.

They take sabiki jigs readily when there is current but bait such as prawn meat or shrimps will prove to be more effective, especially during unfavourable current conditions. Unlike the Yellowtail Scad, which moves along with the current, the Yellowtail Scad have a higher tendency to hang around on spot longer and possibly reside there.
